The counselling contract

At the end of the assessment session or first meeting, we will then decide whether it is possible or useful for us to work together. If it is, then a counselling contract specific to your needs will be discussed and agreed upon. The technicalities of the contract such as the regularity of meetings, the initial required number of sessions and the hoped-for outcome of the therapy will be decided upon. This will then give us a clear and understandable point of reference to work from. At this point, I will give you a paper copy of our counselling agreement, designed primarily to be clear about such incidences as cancellations, missed appointments, and ending to therapy notifications. A more personal contract relating to your individual hopes and needs from our meetings will be agreed upon verbally and will be used as a point of focus or review during our work together.
